HALion does Not load presets and sounds

 

when I had the BIG problem of my HALion Not loading ALL its presets, this is how I solved it.

 

G: is my multi-terabyte hard drive with enough space for me to store bulky multi-gigabyte files such as HALion sound libraries and many other sound libraries

 

I made sure that

C:\Users\JohnDoe\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Content

is a symlink pointing to

G:\JohnDoeCustomSoundLibrary\Content

 

I made sure that

C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content

is a symlink pointing to

G:\JohnDoeCustomSoundLibrary\Content

 

steinberg library manager must be LATEST version, check and verify version !!

as of July 2022, current version is 3.2.20 !!

this version proved to be the ONLY ONE that worked really well for me :)

if your SML is Not latest, you are already heading into a BIG-BIG problem and you are about to see mysteries.

 

feel free to re-arrange the folders inside of

G:\JohnDoeCustomSoundLibrary\Content

to suit your personal preference and taste

in my case, I re-arranged the folders to reflect that a certain .vstsound file truly belongs to a particular component of Steinberg software. for example, I managed to figure out that the .vstsound files below truly belong to Cubase and Nuendo, therefore I created the sub-folder CubaseNuendo inside of my

G:\JohnDoeCustomSoundLibrary\Content

to keep these vstsound files together as CubaseNuendo vstsound files

I managed to figure out that the .vstsound files below truly belong to Groove Agent, therefore I created the sub-folder "Groove Agent" inside of

G:\JohnDoeCustomSoundLibrary\Content

to keep these vstsound files together as Groove Agent vstsound files

I also managed to figure out which vstsound files are factory-supplied files, and which ones are Non-factory (third party) vstsound files. this is extremely important because the LAST thing you want, is to mix factory-supplied vstsound files with addon files, only to upgrade your Cubase/Nuendo 2 years later and end up with a mess due to mixing or keeping Non-factory (addon) vstsound files in the SAME LOCATION as the factory-supplied files . . . which are SUBJECT TO A FUTURE SOFTWARE UPGRADE ! It is for this reason that I keep the Groove Agent Non-factory (addon) vstsound files into a similarly-named, but SEPARATE folder called "Groove Agent_ex" (ex meaning 'extension' or 'extra'). Once again in this paragraph I am saying that I also managed to figure out which vstsound files are factory-supplied files, and which ones are Non-factory (addon / _ex) vstsound files

I do exactly the same with HALion Sonic SE vstsound files. Please notice also that I do Not put version numbers or version information into these folders ! I do Not want a folder called HALion6 or GrooveAgent5 ! These sounds are usually TIME-LESS and lifelong, such that once a vstsound file has been created for HALion during the release of HALion 5, I expect HALion 6 and HALion 7+ to load and open that file, rather than expecting HALion 6+ to have its own brand new VERSION of that vstsound file, such that my ownership of the older version of that file now forces me to keep running HALion 5 in parellel with HALion 6+ !! We really Don't want such versioning nonsense ! So I stay away from putting version numbers or version information into these folders. I do Not want to have a folder called HALion6 or GrooveAgent5 and end up mistakenly imagining and assuming that the vstsound files in that folder ONLY work in HALion6 or only in GrooveAgent5, while the TRUTH might be that those SAME vstsound files may LOAD and may WORK in HALion7, HALion8 or GroveAgent6 !!

I do exactly the same with HALion Sonic vstsound files. Contrary to popular belief, the library of HALion Sonic (Not the expensive full-featured top-of-range HALion) . . . the library of HALion Sonic ALONE is the MOST elaborate and insanely loaded sound library by FARRR. It takes center stage when you compare it with HALion Sonic SE or even HALion full-featured. In fact, HALion full-featured only adds a tiny 700 megabytes of its OWN HALion-exclusive sounds (too tiny to compare with HALion Sonic, LOL).

secondly, the shortcuts you create {in VST Sound folder} must Not be Symbolic Links ! they should be the standard and simple Windows .LNK shortcut files, however in the case where you HAVE to use symlinks, such as people on Macintosh computers or you feel that you have a SOLID reason to use a symlink rather than a simple Windows .LNK file/shortcut, feel free to do so . . . the END result will probably be the same/good.

 

 

with my Steinberg Library Manager being the LATEST version (check and verify YOUR version of SLM !!) the mystery of Steinberg plugins NOT loading or showing their presets/sounds is completely and instantly solved ! With my solution in this write up, there is No single Steinberg software plugin that fails to find its sounds/presets. HALion, Groove Agent, Retrologue, Padshop, etc, including Cubase and Nuendo itself . . . they ALL find their sounds/presets and fully load ALL of their sounds as expected :)

I do Not have to double-click any of my .vstsound files (old one or even BRAND NEWLY-installed ones alike!) in order to remind my SLM to register or detect any of them ! This is possible because I am using the standard/default location where SLM looks for vstsound files by design/default = "VST Sound" folder ! The two symlinks in step 1 above, they do the magic of fooling my SLM to think that ALL my vstsound files are sitting in the standard/default location where SLM looks for ALL vstsound files by design/default = "VST Sound" folder.

 

I am hoping that this write up will be the LAST place on the internet and on EARTH for EVERYONE who claims that his HALion or Groove Agent or Padshop (etc) does Not show or load up ALL of its presets :)

Better Vocabulary can Solve Your Problems Better

the broader your vocabulary the more deeper your Arsenal of resources and words to describe solution is

 

The more narrow your vocabulary the less likely you are to find answers and solutions to the problems that you face in fact a solution may be presented in front of you and you wouldn't be able to tell that this is the solution to my problem or this is the solution to the problem that I have been suffering from

 

If you have the words to describe your problem in many alternative ways to generalize it to flip it over to state it in more and more or tenative for words you eventually match up to a solution of find the solution that perfectly aligns and matches up with your problem

 

On the other hand if you don't have the words to describe the problem that you are struggling with in detail or in many alternative ways you are going to mistakenly describe [mis-describe] the problem in a short and . . . uh . . . a lazy and a very skimpy language. As a result the Solutions you are going to find for that [poorly described or mis-described] problem are also going to be a mismatch to your problem. They are going to be skimpy solution that are inprecise and they are not going to align and match properly with the nature of your problem

 

So if you want to match up your problem to its most perfectly fitting solution unit to build up and Arsenal a solid Arsenal of vocabulary to describe and redescribe and to rearticulate the problem that you are facing in many different ways

 

The only reason people never find appropriate solutions to the problems that they face it is because they are lazy to repeat and to read describe their problem over and over using alternative terms and they are lazy to rearticulate the problem they want to take the shortcut of using five words or six words and concluding that this is the only way to speak of my problem and this is the only way I can explain it

 

Your Sufferings and Failures are due to What you Believe

your Beliefs, are the REASON why you are SUFFERING in this world

I have managed to trace and peg EVERRRY kind of SUFFERING, down to some form of a BELIEF system or some form of an INDOCTRINATION (brainwash) into a BELIEF system

your beliefs, are usually LIMITING beliefs that instill a FALSE sense of "I cannot do it" into your mind !

your {limiting} beliefs serve to lead you to {very poor} CONCLUSIONS that thicken/harden your brain by preventing it from even CONSIDERING anything FURTHER than what you have already CONCLUDED based on YOUR BELIEFS !

your Beliefs are therefore the most ABSURD reality for you and possibly billions of other people the world over !

If you can find a way to DEFEAT your beliefs and to live WITHOUTTT any preconceived Beliefs (which indeed are nothing more than just assumptions and premature and unjustified conclusions), that TURNING POINT could instantly get you on your way to PROSPERITY !

 

let's say for example you harbour a BELIEF that death is NOTTT a disease. this type of {limiting} belief, is going to SERVE the purpose of forcing your mind to RUSH to a premature and extremely absurd/regrettable CONCLUSION that "death is the ultimate END of Life".

 

because you now fully BELIEVE that "death is the ultimate end of life" or that "it SHOULD BE the ultimate END of life", you will NOT BOTHERRR yourself WHATSOEVER to investigate ANY methods or to even LOOK at any OPTIONS to CURE dead people who are already dead by reversing the symptoms of the disease that eventually killed them !

 

it is this STATE of you FOLDING your hands and deciding to simply GIVE UP and throw in the TOWEL concluding that **you**  can DO NOTHINGGGGG (becuz you have now mentally programmed, convinced and indoctrinated yourself into the [absurd] narrative that **NOTHINGGGGG can** be done !! In the process, you are also more likely to be the type of person who will DISCOURAGE OTHER people from MAKING any EFFORTS or putting down any EFFORT into solving this problem, because according to YOUR belief, it CANNOT be solved !

 

It is this STATE of you FOLDING your hands and deciding to DO NOTHINGGGGG that serves to now completely BLIND your MIND, blind your PATH and PREVENTTTT you from even BOTHERINGGG to LOOOOK at the possibilities !!

 

Your beliefes serve to make you SO BLINDDD that you shall NEVER EVERRRR see the way out, even if the solution was literally standing right in FRONT of your eyes, your BELIEFS will mentally-cripple you and paralyze you to ensure that you remain completely oblivious and BLIND to ANY of these possibilities . . . ALLLLLL due to your limiting BELIEFS !

 

with a BELIEF in anything, you are therefore GUARANTEED to go down the rabbithole of making FURTHER catastrophically WRONG assumptions and even {wrong and unjustified} PREDICTIONS and PROJECTIONS about the FUTURE, whereby all of those conclusions are ALL based on your FICKLE and un-justified BELIEF that "death is the ultimate end of life".

 

When doctors 340 years from today FINALLY manage to resurrect dead people MEDICALLY [of course you would be GONE (long dead) by that time], however, the absuridy for you is that you died with INCORRECT beliefs about life and Death.
